A New and Exact Map of the Dominions of the King

From Canoes: A Natural History in North America by Mark Neuzil and Norman Sims

  • This is known as the “beaver map”—credited as the work of Moll—because of the use of the animals at work near Niagara Falls. At the time, the map was the most detailed and largest scale of British possessions in North America, but it was criticized for plagiarizing the work of earlier cartographers. First issued in 1715, the map went through seven different issues to 1736.
