Carl Friedrich Thiele adapted this etching as plate 4 (chapter 4, opp. p. 133) in the first edition of E. T. A. Hoffmann’s Princess Brambilla: A Capriccio after Jacques Callot (1821). Alexander Tairov used this same etching to inspire the carnival mise-en-scène in Princess Brambilla: A Kamerny Theatre Capriccio, after Hoffmann (1920) at the Moscow Kamerny Theatre.
