• Video 7: 3D model of trench 1 - the geochemical model

Video 7

From 3D and 4D Cartography of Archaeological Stratigraphy: A case study at the Western Forum in Ostia Antica by Undine Lieberwirth

  • Video 7 shows the combination of archaeology and pedology - in this case the distribution of the calcium value inside trench 1. At first for your orientation, the archaeological layers, layer 108 in yellow, 103 in blue, the archaeological finds as dots and the outline as the trench grid in black with layer 109 as volume and 101. All these layers are inside the calculated distribution of calcium in 3D now in transparent. And this shows threshold values of these calcium distributions. They are selected intervals of the highest calcium values and if you want to have a look inside you can cut these threshold models on every horizontal place you want to get an insight and an overview of the distribution inside these higher values. These representations are again iso-surfaces and iso-volumes. They are just different representation modi of the same value.
