The Spring Fur Brigades Leave Montreal for the West

From Canoes: A Natural History in North America by Mark Neuzil and Norman Sims

  • “Archie” Arbuckle was a mainstay on the cover of Maclean’s magazine in the 1940s and 1950s, often illustrating men and women at work. Hockey players, farm families, oil drillers, railroad men, and even voyageurs populated his images, which were inspired by both historical and current events.
