  • Carl Friedrich Thiele adapted this etching as plate 7 (chapter 7, opp. p. 257) in the first edition of E. T. A. Hoffmann’s Princess Brambilla: A Capriccio after Jacques Callot (1821).

    Etching foreground: a man with a half mask and wooden sword extends his hat to a woman, who has placed her hand on his elbow.
