Human rights abuses by the Philippine military

From Aid Imperium: United States Foreign Policy and Human Rights in Post-Cold War Southeast Asia by Salvador Santino F. Regilme Jr.

  • Figure 5.1 is a line graph showing two types of data on abuses committed by Philippine military agents: the number of mission-related human rights abuses and the number of abuses that are personal in nature. The data only shows the total number of abuses for the years 2010 until 2012, as well as the partial data for 2013 (first half). The total number of mission-related abuses was around 50 in 2010, while there were only 25 recorded non-mission related abuses in the same year. Those numbers considerably decreased in 2012, when there only 20 mission-related abuses and 10 non-mission-related abuses. During the first half of 2013, fewer than 10 non-mission related abuses were recorded, while there was no violation that is personal in nature was registered by the Philippine military.
