Le Cours du Missisipi

From Canoes: A Natural History in North America by Mark Neuzil and Norman Sims

  • De Fer was a French cartographer, engraver, and publisher not necessarily known for his accuracy. He published more than 600 maps, including another map of North America in 1698 that Herman Moll allegedly plagiarized seventeen years later in his famous “beaver map.”
