This watercolor depicts an Algonquin village with typical dwellings. Armstrong, born in Dublin, was an early important artist around Toronto. He was part of the Wolseley Expedition to the Red River Colony in 1870, documenting the effort needed to move the army through the wilderness under difficult circumstances.
