A Good Time Coming, 1862

From Canoes: A Natural History in North America by Mark Neuzil and Norman Sims

  • This painting depicts Tait’s own camp on Raquette Lake, New York. The artist moved to Raquette Lake in 1860 after other areas became overwhelmed with resort hotels. Currier & Ives published this image as a hand-colored lithograph in 1863, which helped attract sportsmen to the Adirondacks.
