From Canoes: A Natural History in North America by Mark Neuzil and Norman Sims

This painting depicts Tait’s own camp on Raquette Lake, New York. The artist moved to Raquette Lake in 1860 after other areas became overwhelmed with resort hotels. Currier & Ives published this image as a hand-colored lithograph in 1863, which helped attract sportsmen to the Adirondacks.
