United States economic and military aid

  • Figure 1.2 shows the percentage share distribution of US economic and military aid (during the years 1976-2016) per world-region. On average, countries from the Middle East and North America (MENA) receive the largest chunk of US aid, with 42% from the total amount, followed by Sub-Saharan Africa with 16%, Latin America and Caribbean with 10%, and Asia with 20%. Other smaller world regions receive comparatively small percentages of total US aid value: Central Asia with 5%, Western Europe with 4%, and Eastern Europe with 2%.
