Film clip from “Glumov’s Diary”

From The Director's Prism: E. T. A. Hoffmann and the Russian Theatrical Avant-Garde by Dassia N. Posner

  • Film clip of Glumov chasing the thief of his diary up the outside of the former Morozov family mansion, which housed Proletkult after the Revolution. Several versions of this clip exist; this one, held by the Bakhrushin Museum, organizes the sequence of shots to focus on the chase and getaway of the thief.

For a valuable analysis of the logic, order, and context of the three Wiseman film clips (of which this was one), see Phil Cavendish, "From 'Lost' to 'Found': The 'Rediscovery' of Sergei Eisenstein's Glumov's Diary and its avant-garde context."
